There’s something about returning to a place you’ve been before that’s both comforting and exciting. It’s like meeting an old flame after years apart – the familiarity of her face, the sound of her voice, and the rush of memories flooding back all at once. And yet, you also know that things have changed and that there’s a whole new layer of discovery waiting for you.

As I wander the streets of Taipei once again, memories of my previous travels flood back to me. The city feels both familiar and new at the same time, and I can’t help but wonder how much it has changed since my last time here. I walk down the same streets and see many of the same sights, but there are also subtle differences that hint at the passing of time. And then, just as I’m lost in my thoughts, I see a poster on a pilaster of a building.

It’s the same one I saw so many times during my previous visits. The image is striking – a black and white sketch of a man adorned with dark clothes and metal studs, holding a guitar, wearing a helmet with a fierce pose evoking determination. It’s a drawing that transmit a sense of rebellion and raw energy, like a warrior ready to go into battle armed with nothing but a guitar, his passion and his soul. I always liked this poster.

As I stand here looking at the image, I feel a sense of nostalgia and longing for that first time when everything was new and unknown. But I also feel a renewed sense of passion and excitement for the experiences that await me again. The city may have changed in the years, but the spirit of adventure and exploration that drew me here in the first place is still alive and well.

And so, I set out to rediscover Taipei – to explore the familiar streets and uncover the unfamiliar.
